Medicare and Prescription Drug

Enrollment in Medicare is not mandatory. However, if eligible participants do not enroll within their three-month period that begins on the date you are first eligible for Medicate, you may need to pay a late enrollment pentalty. Participants may qualify. for a Special Enrollment Period. 

Medicare Supplement Insurance is an additional protection policy you can purchase from a private health insurance company to help cover your share of your out-of-pocket medical related expenses.

A Medicare drug plan is an agreement between you and your drug plan provider to help pay the cost of prescription drugs, sometimes referred to as Part D. 

An HMO plan requires you to get care from doctors, hospitals, and other health care providers in the plan's network. A PPO (preferred provider organization) plan gives you more flexibility. You can choose doctors outside of the network if your doctor is not part of it.

Medicare Advantage Plans are offered by private companies that must follow rules set by Medicare. If you join a Medicare Advantage Plan, you’ll still have Medicare but you’ll get most of your Part A and Part B coverage from your Medicare Advantage Plan, not Original Medicare. Part C plans also offer extra benefits, like vision care or dental coverage.
